In-process inspection is carried out at every stage of manufacturing by experienced and trained Quality control staff and technicians and monitored by qualified engineers as per laid down Standard quality procedures. The product conforming to the design parameters and quality standards is released for the next process.
Nowcomes the stage of final testing, whereby our product is subjected to stringent tests. The first test involvesthe testing of conductor resistance which is influenced by the dimensions, construction, processing, conditions, and property of the material.
This is followedby high voltage test whichis an accelerated test carried out at a higher voltage for a shorter duration. Next is the armour resistance test.
We also conduct type tests which includes the annealing test, which is applicable for copper only. This test is basically carried out to check the ductility of copper. For Aluminumwe have tensile strength test and wrapping test. This test is carried out to ensure that the conductor Aluminum is of requisite strength as per design.
After these tests physical test for insulation & sheath are carried out. The first test is conducted to ensure that the insulation and sheath are of requisite tensile strength and elongation to withstand such stresses and strains.
The longduration water absorption test is conducted on XLPEinsulation.
Many of the type test needs conditioning of samples before or after the tests. This is followed by ageing in Air oven and loss of mass tests. These are carried out to check the ageing properties of insulation and sheathing material.
Now comes the turn of hot deformation test. The test is carried out to check whether the thermoplastic material used is having sufficient resistance to such deformations. This is followed by Heat Shock test. The insulating.material is subjected to this test to check the resistance of insulating material to thermal changes. The insulating material have residual stress which is relieved due to heating. Shrinkage test is used to check that such stresses are within limits.
The degree of cross linkingis checked there after by hot set test.
We also carry out conductor resistance test which ensures that the conductor resistance is meeting the design requirements.
The high voltage or water immersiontest. In this the cores of PVC cables are tested at high voltage and elevated temperature for long duration.
Dielectric power factor test:
This test quantifies the basic dielectric property of the insulation.Gemscab is setting up a state of the art testing facility for the measurement of tan delta with a 50 kV gas filled standard capacitor and a 1* 10-4 picofarad measurement system.
Insulations resistance test:
This test measures the Insulation resistance. Finally there is Thermal Stability test which is carried out on Poly Vinyl Chloride insulationand sheathing material to ensure that the compounds do not disintegrate during processing or during short circuit.
Now comes the turn of tests for armoring wires and strips. The first test is to ensure that the armoring material is sufficiently ductile as well as having required strength. This test is followedby testing mass of zinc coating so as to check that requisite amount of zinc is deposited on the steel. Winding Test is carried out to ensure that the zinc coating applied over the steel wire/strip shouldadhere to the base material. |
